Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Odigbo Local Government area of Ondo State have kicked against emergence of Mr Yomi Akinfenwa as candidate for Odigbo/Ileo uji/Okeigbo federal constituency.

They are asking national leadership of the party, being led by Prince Uche Secondus to intervene in the dispute before it became a huge conflict.

Chairman of the party in Odigbo Local Government, Alhaji Rasheed Adebayo and other members of the executive, the members said the emergence of Akinfenwa had breached the zoning arrangement of the party in the federal constituency.

The protesters said the party primary election where the candidate emerged did not take place within the federal constituency and as such breached the constituent of the party.

Also in a letter to National Chairman, the party executive said there was no way they would campaign in the constituency, which had been shortchanged in the emergency of the candidate for the next year’s election.

The letter entitled “official protest against the purported PDP primary election in Odigbo/Ile-Oluji-Okeigbo Federal Constituency in favour of Yomi Akinfenwa” rejected the outcome of the primary.

The pary executives in the letter said “there was no election in the constituency on the 3rd of October. Therefore, something cannot be wished on nothing. We are surprised that the result of the election that did not take place in the first place was manufactured in favour of Akinfenwa.”
