Rangers International of Enugu started their CAF Confederations Cup campaign with a 2:0 victory over Ethiopian side Defence Forces at the Cathedral on Wednesday.

Godwin Aguda was the hero for the Flying Antelopes as his double penalties made the difference on the return Nigerians side to the continent since 2016.

The first forty five minutes was without a goal, although Rangers enjoyed plenty of the balls.

Ten minutes after the restart, Ranger’s Ajani Ibrahim was brought down in the penalty area and Aguda made no mistake, As he slotted it calmly pass the goalkeeper.

In the 84th minute, Defence Forces will soon commit another defensive blunder when Aguda was fouled from behind which led to the referee pointing to the penalty spot for the second time and Aguda stepped up and scored again.

Rangers will travel to Ethiopia for the second leg in two weeks time.
