The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Plateau State office has displayed the names of 39 cleared to contest for the Senate seats from the three Senatorial districts of the state and as well as 66 candidates contesting for the House of Representatives seats across the eight Federal Constituencies of the state.

Some of the registered political parties who their candidates were cleared to participate in the 2019 elections includes; APC, PDP, ADP, SDP, ADC and PPC amongst others.

The candidates cleared to contest for the senate include: Hon. Istifanus Dung Gyang, PDP from Plateau North; Hon. Rufus Bature, APC Plateau North; while former Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr. Paradang David, PDP Plateau Central; former Commissioner of Police, Abia State, Hezekiah Dimka, was cleared as APC candidate Plateau Central Senatorial District, and Youths activist, Dr. Chinnan Dikwal for SDP.

Others senatorial candidates on the lists, include the former deputy governor of Plateau State, Ambassador Ignatius Datong Longjang and Barr Peter Dandam Kefas.

It was learnt that the name yet to be cleared is that of the PDP candidate for Quanpan, Mikang and Shendam Federal Constituency.

However on the 66 cleared lists for the House of Representatives, majority of those who contested to retain their seats and were able to secured their tickets were; Hon. Timothy Golu PDP, Hon. Beni Lar PDP, Hon. Solomon Maren PDP, and Hon. Ahmed Maje APC; while Hon. Istifanus Gyang representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency is now the PDP senatorial candidate for Plateau North Senatorial District.

Meanwhile, Hon. Johnbul Shekareu, representing Shendam, Mikang and Quapan Federal Constituency had contested for the governorship seat under PDP, but he lost to Senator Jeremiah Useni after coming second in the contest.

When contacted, the Head of Voter Education and Publicity of INEC in the state, Mr. Imahiyereobo Osaretin, said that the list of those cleared has been display at the gate of the INEC office for all candidates and their party to see.
