Real Madrid coach Santiago Solari says his team can fix their problems after a 3-0 humiliation at Eibar on Saturday in La Liga.
The Argentine won four matches as interim coach but suffered a painful defeat at Ipurua in his first game since taking charge permanently this month.
Gonzalo Escalante, Sergi Enrich and Kike Garcia piled misery on Real Madrid, who are sixth, in an anaemic display in the Basque country.
“It’s a tough result that we didn’t expect and we have to work to improve and adjust certain things that we didn’t do well. But they are remediable,” Solari told a news conference.
“We were not good and that’s on us. We have to work to correct the mistakes. They were good, it went for them and we have to congratulate Eibar.”
The European champions’ defence was fragile and if it had not been for a string of good saves by goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois the thrashing could have been more severe for them.
“We will try to let in fewer goals and score more. That’s our job and we have been doing that in the last few games.
“I don’t know (if this was the worst performance of the season), but (it’s) the worst of the last five games, certainly.”
This was Eibar’s first-ever victory against Real Madrid and striker Enrich was delighted with the triumph.
“Real Madrid have lost few games against opponents like us,” said Enrich.
“We pressed up top, (and) we didn’t let them bring the ball out. For this club, so small, this city, this incredible atmosphere, it’s been years that we’ve looked for this win.
“We won all the battles, the second balls. We are what we are. We knew that if we played our game, we would have the chance to win.”
