The outgoing Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State has disclosed that he would prefer to proceed on leave in order to rest after the expiration of his administration.

Aregbesola, who revealed this at the weekend in Osogbo during his last personality interactive programme tagged: ‘Ogbeni Till Day Break’, said that his resolve to proceed on leave was responsible for his inability to obtain a form for his senatorial ambition.

It would be recalled that most of his colleagues, who are leaving office, have signified their intention to proceed to Senate while most of them have already secured the ticket of their party.

It had been rumoured that Aregbesola would be seeking the senatorial ticket of Osun East.

The two-term tenure of Aregbesola will expire on November 26, 2018. He assumed the leadership of the state in November 27, 2010.

Aregbesola noted that the leave period would afford him the opportunity to have more time for his family, stressing that he needed to rest for a while because he had been in active politics since his secondary school days.

According to him, “the reason why I didn’t pick up the senatorial ticket is very simple. I have been active politically since my secondary school days; I simply want to rest.”

The governor also explained that he would still remain in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, even after leaving office.

“People want to know my next movement after November 27; it may surprise you to know that I will leave the Government House on Monday, November 19, which is exactly a week to the expiration of my tenure.

“Even after leaving the Government House, I will still remain in Osogbo, but I will not tell you my specific location“.
