Kalu Finally Joins Eagles Teammates In Asaba Ahead Departure To South Africa

Bordeaux of France winger, Samuel Kalu, arrived the Super Eagles camp in Asaba on Wednesday to bring the number of players in the team’s camp to 23 ahead of their Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Johannesburg,

Kalu missed the team’s first training session at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba due to his late arrival in camp.

He was however part of the team’s training session on Wednesday which was behind closed doors.

Kalu has been capped three times by Nigeria and has scored one goal.

The pacy winger was first called-up by Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr for the side’s 2019 AFCON qualifier against Seychelles in September.

The players and their officials, will fly straight to Johannesburg on Thursday evening from Benin City airport aboard a chartered Max Air flight.

The Super Eagles are top of Group E standings in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers with nine points – one point ahead of South Africa, while Libya are on four points and Seychelles have one point.

A win against the Bafana Bafana will see the Super Eagles return to AFCON finals after missing the last two editions of the tournament.
