J. Cole’s “KOD” Album Goes Platinum

We are excited seeing American rapper, J. Cole on platinum with his ‘KOD’ album more importantly noting that there is no single feature aside from Cole’s alter-ego, Kill Edward.

Chart Data tweeted the announcement on Thursday morning (December 20). The project released in April this year debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with roughly 397,000 total album equivalent units sold in its first week. It also broke streaming records on both Apple Music and Spotify with over 1 billion streams combined.

The North Carolina born rapper held a headline concert in Nigeria just a week after the album dropped and was blown away after the crowd in Eko Convention Centre saw along, word for word during his performance.

The RIAA included KOD on its list of 2018’s Best RIAA Gold & Platinum Awards along with others including Cardi B’s Invasion Of Privacy, Post Malone’s beerbongs and Bentleys, Travis Scott’s Astroworld, Eminem’s Kamikaze and Black Panther: The Album.

A total of 33 albums and 151 songs were certified gold or platinum in 2018.
