Ex-Olympian Ajagba Bags 1st Round Knockout Win Vs USA's Jones

Nigeria’s lone entrant in the boxing event of 2016 Olympics, Efe Ajagba improved his unbeaten streak to 7-0 late Sunday in United States by scoring a stunning first round knockout win over his American opponent Nick Jones in their six-round heavyweight fight,

Ajagba who in August became a social media phenomenon when his opponent Curtis Harper was disqualified after taking to his heels before a scheduled bout in front of stunned fight fans, convinced fans that he was for real and not just a media hype by completely dominating Jones for as long as the fight lasted.

The Nigerian, an African games gold medal winner back in 2015 stunned Jones who was undefeated coming into the bout with a 6-0 record.

Ajagba joined the pro ranks in 2017 in company of his cousin and fellow national teammate, Efetobore Apochi, who campaigns in the cruiserweght category.

Sunday’s win against Jones at Citizens Business Bank Arena, Ontario, California was Ajagba’s seventh win by knockout. He has fought four times this year already.

Moments after the bout Ajagba who won a bronze medal for Nigeria at 2014 Commonweath games in Glasgow promised his fans more.

“I’m going to rule the world, we gonna shake the world. I knew from the beginning that I would knock him out,” Ajagba who bowed out in the quarter final of Rio Olympics said.
