Shaibu said: “We are determined as a government to return the state to its lost glory where it was known worldwide in sporting activities.

“Governor Godwin Obaseki is a private sector driven governor. He knows that hosting the 2020 National Sports Festival will drive the economy of the state to a greater level.”

He said that Obaseki administration would build 20 mini stadiums across the state as part of efforts to boost the state’s economy through sports.

Shaibu also said that Edo Government was also reconstructing the Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium to meet international standards.

According to him, the state is strategically positioned and among the safest state in Nigeria.

The deputy governor also appealed to other states to support Edo vision of hosting the 2020 National sports festival as they would not regret giving their support to the state.
