Cash Money Records Rapper, Young Greatness, Shot Death in New Orleans

WWLTV is reporting that New Orleans rapper Young Greatness was shot and killed in his hometown early Monday morning.

According to the news site, the rapper whose real name is Theodore Jones, was fatally shot while outside the Waffle House in the 2900 block of Elysian Fields Avenue.

Confirming the incidence, the New Orleans Police Department said the shooting occurred around 1:35 a.m.  And when officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim with a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

“You wouldn’t expect that coming happening with him,” said one of the rapper’s friends at the scene. “Dude wasn’t into nothing but his music and his daughter … Wasn’t into nothing else man.”

Preliminary report revealed that the NOPD is looking for two suspects, and also the rapper’s vehicle was also stolen from the scene.

Young Greatness had moved to Houston after Hurricane Katrina and signed with Cash Money records in 2017 after releasing the single “Moolah” in 2015 under the Quality Control label.

He was 34.
