A 17-year-old LaShonda Childs Who was shot in the head by her ex-boyfriend, 28-year-old Trendell Goodwin and was transported to Grandview Medical Center Tuesday evening has died early Wednesday morning.
Her mother, Nina, says her daughter and Goodwin started dating last September but the teen began to realize something was off about Goodwin when she learned that he lied about his age.
He told Childs that he was 20-years-old.
Goodwin started to show disturbing behavior and on one occasion, he bit Childs hard enough to draw blood.
He would steal Childs’ cell phones and constantly harass her family. Her mother says Goodwin continued to stalk the teen, even after she broke up with him.
“He was the type of guy who would call you 70 times a day. Nonstop. It was aggravating as well as annoying and scary.”
The teen told her mother about the abuse and Nina said prior to her daughter’s death, Goodwin would write threats on Facebook.
“He had posted lots of things on Facebook that he would kill her”
Goodwin was arrested and charged with felonious assault Tuesday evening. Childs’ brother, Jaylon, hopes that women will see the signs before entering an abusive relationship.
