Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr and captain Mikel Obi voted for Luka Modric and Lionel Messi respectively as their Men’s Best Player at the 2018 Best FIFA Football Awards,
Rohr voted for Real Madrid and Croatia midfielder Modric in the first place and French teenage star, Kylian Mbappe in second place while Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard was his third choice.
Mikel on his part picked Lionel Messi who was not shortlisted in the final three as his best player while Mbappe and Modric came second and third respectively in his voting.
Modric who eventually won the FIFA’s Best Men’s Player of the Year on Monday night polled 29.05% of the votes cast.
Cristiano Ronaldo who failed to attend the London event due to a schedule clash placed second with 19.08% while Liverpool winger who won the FIFA Puskas Award for his stunning goal against Everton in the English Premier League finished third with 11.23%.
Kylian Mbappe was fourth with 10.52%, Messi fifth with 9.81%, Antoine Griezmann in sixth place with 6.69% while Eden Hazard 5.65%, Kevin De Bruyne 3.54%, Raphael Varane – 3.45% and Harry Kane – 0.98% completes the top ten list.
