Paris Saint-Germain's Adrien Rabiot remains silent on transfer talk
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot has said that he will comment on his future when needed after the French champions beat Toulouse 1-0 in Ligue 1 on Saturday.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot has said that he will comment on his future “when needed” after the French champions beat Toulouse 1-0 in Ligue 1 on Saturday.

The France international has been linked with a move away from Parc des Princes at a knock-down price in January or for free next summer and a number of “inaccurate” French reports have claimed this week that he has decided to reject a contract extension with PSG.

“I do not want to speak publicly,” Rabiot said to Canal+. “I will do so when I want to. Everything that is being said about me is inaccurate and I will speak when needed.”

Captain Thiago Silva was happy with the clean sheet and said he hopes that he and his PSG teammates will raise their game against Liverpool in Champions League Group C next Wednesday.

The Brazil international emphasised that the Premier League outfit will be a tougher opponent.

“We are happy about this 14th win from 14 matches,” Silva said. “It was harder than usual. Toulouse were very tight at the back. However, it was good preparation ahead of Liverpool.

“I hope we will be better next week — especially when it comes to the final pass. Post-international break is always tough as everybody is tired. We are happy with the result, though, so now we will prepare for Liverpool — a more difficult game.

“The squad is always positive. It will be harder, but Liverpool and Napoli are both good teams. To win at home on Wednesday, we must play well — we have to prepare thoroughly as a draw or a defeat will make qualification complicated. We must play with our hearts and our heads.”

Edinson Cavani scored the only goal of the game with an excellent finish inside the opening 10 minutes and although it was not a vintage performance, the Uruguay international praised Toulouse’s defensive effort.

“We did not see the best PSG but winning was the most important thing,” Cavani said. “We always want to play well but sometimes it is not possible.

“We came up against a tough Toulouse defence. After that, we can improve on certain things, but the win was the most important thing. We can now focus on the Liverpool match — a great game to play in.”

PSG have won all 14 of their Ligue 1 matches so far this season — a top five European leagues record and a club record number of consecutive victories.

They now face Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday, and manager Thomas Tuchel expects to have Neymar and Kylian Mbappe back.

“We saw that everybody already had their minds on the Liverpool match,” he said “Everybody wants to win that game. We have to think of Liverpool and Red Star Belgrade as finals — they will be decisive.

“I think that Neymar and Kylian Mbappe will feature but I cannot be sure. I am very optimistic because they trained individually on Saturday and I hope that they will be able to train collectively on Monday.”
