The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has concluded plans to undertake Basic Business Refresher Course for the 185, 000 unemployed persons wishing to access the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)’s Agri-Business Small and Medium Enterprise Investment Scheme (AGSMEIS) loans.
The Directorate made the disclosure through its Director General, Dr Nasiru Mohammed Argungu, during the opening ceremony of Orientation Exercise of Newly Recruited 300 trainees in Jos yesterday.
Dr Argungu said the course would be carried out nationwide.
The DG also disclosed that his Directorate would engage 50 persons per state under the Environmental Beautification Scheme (EBTS).
He said, “We are also in the next few days would start training of 50 persons per state under the Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS),”
“The Directorate has also concluded plans to immediately empower 11, 000 micro businesses with N10, 000 each under Micro Enterprise Enhancement Scheme (MEES).” He said.
The DG reiterated if the nation used skills acquisition as tool for employability and poverty reduction, then not only wealth would be created but it would be sure part to sustainable growth and development of the nation.
