COURSES OFFERED IN UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA
The Institute of Education under the charge of the University of Abuja was established in 2004 after the idea was approved by the Senate of the University. The Institute started operating in 2005 and since then, the number of the available programmes has grown by several times.
The things started with five initial courses in 2005. In 2006, there were already twelve. In the years thereafter, the number of courses grew to the total twenty available postgraduate part-time and sandwich courses.

ADDITIONAL INFO ON PART TIME COURSES IN UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA
The institute offers programmes and courses in the area of Education, which are aimed at the enhancement and further development of the already existing skills of teachers and lecturers. These courses are organized as part-time and sandwich studies for the sake of the students’ comfort.
The goal of the courses is to train the teachers in such a way that they meet the growing modern demands of the today’s system of education. Besides that, one of the extra goals of the programmes is to catch the attention of young people who may be interested in teaching and involve them in the further development of their gift.
The part-time/sandwich scheme is designed to last for 4 to 5 years, depending on the starting level of the candidates who enter it. Within the years of studying, there will be a range of contact periods, lasting for 12 weeks each.
ARE THERE ANY EXTRA PART-TIME UNIABUJA COURSES?
In addition to the mentioned part-time programmes in the Institute of Education, the University of Abuja offers two more possibly part-time courses for postgraduates. These are the PGD in Gender Studies and M.A. in Gender Studies. These courses belong to the University’s specialized centre that deals with Youth Advancement and Gender Security Studies.
