Former Barcelona defender, Dani Alves, was yesterday named in the FIFA World XI line up at an award ceremony in London. The Argentine was only involved in 23 out of 38 matches for PSG last season and was not even superb.
Dani Alves did not even make the Argentina World cup squad at the just concluded FIFA World cup tournament in Russia. So its befuddling, to understand the parameters that were used in picking him.
His emergence has been sparkling outbursts from fans as they have been on social media calling out FIFA.
See what they said:
Dani Alves nominated in the 2018 FIFA World XI despite starting just 23 out of 38 league games, only being involved in the Champions League until the last 16 stage & missing the World Cup entirely
The clearest sign yet that these awards are picked on reputations, not performances
