Mohammed Salah’s stunning goal against Everton in the Meyerside derby has won FIFA Puskas award. The Egyptian scored the goal last year, during a domestic League fixture between Liverpool and Everton.
The goal won the award over former Real Madrid striker’s, Cristiano Ronaldo, overhead kick against Juventus in the UEFA Champions league Quarterfinal and Gareth Bales’s stunning strike against Liverpool in the final of the same competition.
Surprisingly, the goal was not even among Salah’s best goal for last year when he was asked to list his best strikes.
As a result of this, fans have been on social media ranting against FIFA claiming that the award was dubious.

See what people are saying:
Salah winning the Puskas award for that goal makes Pedro’s tap in vs Arsenal this season a candidate for the next Puskas award.

Biggest stage? I’m guessing Ronaldo was there also. Man get your facts straight. The fact that you saying salah got puskas award as a consolation is funny. Man deserved nothing.

Even the most biased Liverpool fan cannot for one second think that goal deserves the Puskas award? Surely?!

Salah’s goal was class but no way deserves a Puskas, wasn’t even his best goal 😬
