Bayern Munich have agreed a deal to sign French World Cup winner Benjamin Pavard from Stuttgart this summer.
The club’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic said the 22-year-old has signed a five-year deal, with reports suggesting the Bundesliga sides have agreed a transfer fee of around €35m.
Salihamidzic announced the deal at Bayern’s training camp in Doha, with Pavard’s contract to start in the summer.
“I can confirm that Benjamin Pavard will join us on a five-year deal from July 1, 2019,” Salihamidzic said.
“Pavard is a young player and a world champion. We’re delighted and very proud to have been able to secure the services of a player like him.”
Pavard enjoyed an impressive World Cup in Russia, scoring a spectacular goal in his country’s win over Argentina in the round of 16.
He was linked with a number of clubs following his successful summer but returned to Stuttgart. However, they have struggled this season and sit in 16th place in the Bundesliga.
Pavard joined Stuttgart from Lille in 2016, helping the side to win promotion back to the Bundesliga.
