Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun, was once again overlooked by Brighton & Hove Albion manager, Chris Hughton in their 1-0 win against West Ham United in the English Premier League game at the Amex Stadium, East Sussex on Friday night,
Balogun was benched for the entire 90 minutes in the game.
He has struggled to break his way into Brighton’s first team since joining from German club, Mainz this summer.
The 30-year-old has made just one start this season, in the 1-0 defeat at Liverpool and has struggled to break the long-term partnership of Shane Duffy and Lewis Dunk.
Balogun’s only other appearance for Brighton was in the 3-2 home win against Manchester United in August where he came on as a substitute for Dunk in the 20th minute.
The win against West Ham United ended a run of five Premier League games without a win for the Seagulls who fought hard against their in-form opponent who are unbeaten in their last three games.
Glenn Murray scored the decisive goal in the 25th minute, his 99th Brighton goal.
West Ham United nearly equalised on the dot of 90 minutes but Marko Arnautovic blazed his shot over the bar.
The win moves Brighton up to 12th in the English Premier League table with eight points from eight games heading into the international break while West Ham occupies the 15th position with seven points from the same number of matches.
